Massanutten District Adult Recognition

Our program could not exist without the outstanding volunteers that commit their time and resources to working with the youth in our community. Each year, the district strives to recognize the efforts of these volunteers with a recognition dinner, at which awards are presented and achievements are recognized. At this dinner, we also acknowledge the Eagle Scouts from the preceding year. We are currently in the planning stages for the 2022 district recognition dinner and will have more information on that coming soon.

At the district dinner, we present a Scouter of the Year, a Cub Scouter of the Year, and a District Award of Merit. These recognitions are all selected based on nominations received using the District Award of Merit Nomination Form. If you wish to nominate a Scouter for one of these awards, please turn in the nomination form to our District Chair, Jeff Holsinger, by December 31, 2021.

Scouter Training Awards

Every Scout deserves a trained leader, and every trained leader deserves recognition. With that in mind, there are several awards to recognize the work put in by our adult volunteers to become trained and effective leaders for our youth.

The trained strip is worn by those leaders who have completed the position specific training for their registered position. For more information on the training required, visit the BSA's Training for Adults page.

The Den Leader Training Award is to recognize den leaders who have completed training, tenure, and performance requirements. Available for Tiger Cub den leaders, Cub Scout den leaders, and Webelos den leaders. This award can be applied for once the requirements are met by submitting this form to Brian Walton, the District Training Chair.

Training Awards - Palmetto Council, BSA

The Scouter's Training Award is much like the Den Leader version, but can be earned by Unit Leaders, Assistant Unit Leaders, and Committee Members in addition to Den Leaders.

Applications for these should be submitted to Brian Walton, the District Training Chair, once completed.

The Scouter's Key is the last of the training awards for a Scouter, and is presented to Cubmasters and Scoutmasters for their work with their units, and training and tenure beyond that required of the Scouter's Training Award.

Applications for these should be submitted to Brian Walton, the District Training Chair, once completed.
